Fred, one of the instructors of IESA, brings a wealth of experience and expertise to his role in providing Personal Development and Combat Drills training. As a major in the Royal Dutch Army with 39 years of service, he is a decorated combat veteran who has made multiple deployments to Afghanistan. Fred was recently knighted by the Netherlands king for his significant, long-term contribution to the monarchy and the military. Currently, he serves as the head of Army Public Affairs for the reserves.

In addition to his military career, Fred has more than three decades of experience in commercial and high-end security. He is an advanced trained mountain climber with experience in expeditions to the most hostile environments on Earth, including the Arctic Circle, jungles, and mountain areas like Kilimanjaro, Tanzania, Mt Kinabalu, Malaysia, Mount Blanc, France, and Mount Fuji, Japan. In 2019, he was part of an expedition to the deep jungle and swamps of New Guinea to find missing or shot-down planes and aircrew from World War II.

Fred is a trainer in combat drills, personal development, and military leadership in stressful combat situations and high-risk environments. He emphasizes the importance of team building, agility, mental toughness, adaptability, flexibility, mental and physical resilience, competence, and character. He is also a trainer in Survival, Evasion, Resistance, Escape, and logistics planning for operations and expeditions. As he often says, "most of life's battles are won or lost in the mind."
